Environmental Services: defending the earth
Since the early 1990s, DCC has provided environmental science and environmental engineering services to DND. Now, these services make up a significant part of the Corporation’s business. Increasingly, as DND is faced with more environmental challenges, DCC’s environmental capabilities continue to expand to meet these needs.
Environmental Services works with DND to meet environmental performance targets, comply with regulatory requirements, assess for due diligence purposes, and manage risk. Environmental work can be performed through DCC in-house expertise or by leveraging industry capacity. Some of the service line’s key practice areas include:
- environmental assessments based on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act;
- site assessments (historical reviews, environmental characterizations);
- site remediation and decommissioning;
- hazardous material surveys and abatement;
- environmental support for project and program management;
- sustainable development strategy support;
- unexploded explosive ordnance (UXO) related services (geophysical surveys, avoidance, clearance);
- biological servives;
- policy, compliance and advisory services;
- waste management auditing and planning; and
- environmental monitoring and compliance auditing.
We have professionals throughout Canada with broad environmental expertise that have access to a national network of specialists including environmental engineers and scientists. Our team has spent years focused on DND’s needs, giving us a unique accumulation of knowledge of its environmental requirements. This corporate memory, combined with our ability to leverage industry capability, allows us to deliver a broad range of environmental solutions to meet DND’s rigorous operational needs.
